The following "Conscious lifestyle" series will explore common lifestyle practices and their effects on our personal health and spirituality, our communities, and ultimately the planet. We plan to take a holistic approach, blending science and spirituality in order to live a life aligned with perfect, wealth, health and happiness. We intend to introduce conscious lifestyle "hacks" to keep you operating at the highest physical and mental level. We aim to bring you only the most vital information to enable you to create a life full of wellness & prosperity. As such, we believe that in order to live our goals and dreams to the utmost, we should first turn inwardly and focus on our personal health. One of the most basic things we can do to ensure a thriving body, mind, spirit, and environment is to look closely at the foods we are consuming. Unfortunately, for many of us, food is foremost a sensory experience while health and spiritual implications are often overlooked. We choose what we eat or drink based on taste, tradition, culture/social factors, and other reasons, and often don't consider how they affect us on a deeper level. For real and lasting health to occur, we must retrain our minds to look at food in a totally new light. While we have come far in understanding the health implications of eating this versus that in terms of nutrition, many of us neglect the energetic qualities of food. First, let’s dive into how quantum physics and energy/frequency are involved in our diets. How quantum physics plays a role in our dietsEverything is made up of perpetually moving subatomic particles/waves which vibrate at a certain frequency, including the human body and the food that enters it. The particle/wave forms that make up our body are held together in electrostatic fields. Any interaction with these energy fields, such as eating, represents change to the system and has the possibility to either increase or decrease the overall frequency. As every system wants to remain at equilibrium, any lower frequencies that enter our energy system will inherently lower the overall frequency of the system, just as adding ice cubes to hot water will reduce the overall temperature of the water. The frequency at which your body vibrates is due in large part to your diet. “You are what you eat" is a common adage and takes on a deeper meaning when we think from a quantum level. The particles of the foods we eat are not only used by the body, they literally BECOME the body. In the previous ice cube analogy, our energy field is represented by the hot water, heat as frequency, and the ice cubes as low frequency food. The more ice cubes we put in the water, the more ice cube-like our water becomes. The health implications of a low frequency meal include a weighed down, bloated feeling after eating, indigestion, sluggishness, nausea, etc. On the other hand, when we consume high frequency meals, we feel light, clean, healthy, energized, and rejuvenated. To be operating at our best, vibrating at a higher frequency is of paramount importance and therefore choosing high frequency meals is essential. As such, food can either be your salvation or your demise, medicine to the body or poison. When we plan our diet around our health and spirituality, we do not require extensive calorie counting, meal planning, or fad diets. Our focus is an approach to eating which redefines our personal relationship with food in order to achieve emotional and spiritual balance. After all, our diet can either tremendously help or hinder our spiritual goals. If we were to look at the world at the most elemental quantum level, we would observe what sages and yogis call the "trigunas," or three basic qualities. Much like what scientists nowadays refer to as superstring theory, yogic sages have long described many stringlike waveforms beyond perception which come together to make up all matter. These sages have gone a step further than modern science, even describing their composition and effects. They are as follows: Sattva- depicted as a balanced, golden waveform, sattva represents spiritual purity and calm. Foods high in sattva component are beneficial to health and are high in spiritual purity/freshness. Sattvic diets nourish the mind and body, helping the mind remain in a peaceful state while allowing the body to function in maximum health, thus achieving spiritual balance. With sattvic diets, spiritual energy is imbibed by the body and boosts energetic frequency. Sattvic diets are comprised of mostly non-animal foods, which have been charged with spiritual energy and intention. Examples of sattvic foods are whole grains and cereals, fresh fruit and vegetables, herbal teas, nuts and seeds, legumes, honey. These represent some of the highest frequency foods. Raja- depicted as a less stable red waveform, raja represents action, passion, and restlessness. Foods high in Rajas component are hot, bitter, sour, salty, spicy and/or dry. These can be very stimulating, making the mind restless and disrupting mind-body balance. Although they can be healing, highly rajasic foods are said to heal the body at the expense of the mind. With rajasic diets, erratic energies can be imbibed, making rest and relaxation difficult in already hyperactive people. Examples include spicy herbs, onion, garlic, coffee, chocolate, fish etc. eating too quickly can also be deemed rajasic, as it throws off mind body balance and digestion. Tama- depicted as an erratic black waveform, tamas represents ignorance, darkness, general lack of spiritual purity. Foods high in tamas are the most dense, spiritually impure, and rot. With tamasic diets, energetic debt is imbibed, thus robbing the body of its spiritual energy. If we refer to the previous ice cube analogy, heat (spiritual energy) is robbed from the hot water as ice cubes (tamasic foods) are added. Inertia sets in, thus one power of reasoning as well as the body's resistance to disease are diminished. Examples of tamasic foods include meat, fried foods, stale or rotten food, frozen and preserved foods, junk food, alcohol, overripe foods, etc. These represent the lowest frequency foods, and thus the most harmful to our spiritual health. *Note: It should be noted that many consider milk, butter, cheese, etc to be sattvic. While products from cows can be high in the sattva component, we must consider all of the steps in the production process. The current American dairy industry does NOT promote sattvic practices and qualities. As the milk and animal products are often forcibly taken under unhygienic, unloving circumstances, any sattvic quality inherent in milk is not present, rendering the product spiritually and physically impure. Only milk derived from cows that were treated with respect, given healthy food, and cultivated within a mutual symbiotic relationship can be considered sattvic. What modern science says about our diets and it’s impactIn 1992, Tainio technology built the first frequency monitor in the world. They determined that the average frequency of the human body during the daytime was 62-68 hz, and a healthy human body frequency is around 62-72 hz. Here are more of their findings: Human Body: Genius Brain Frequency: 80-82 MHz Brain Frequency Range: 72-90 MHz Normal Brain Frequency: 72 MHz Human Body: 62-78 MHz Human Body: from Neck up 72-78 MHz Human Body: from Neck down 60-68 MHz Thyroid and Parathyroid glands:62-68 MHz Thymus Gland: 65-68 MHz Heart: 67-70 MHz Lungs: 58-65 MHz Liver: 55-60 MHz Pancreas: 60-80 MHz Diseases: Colds and Flu start at: 57-60 MHz Disease starts at: 58 MHz Candida overgrowth starts at: 55 MHz Receptive to Epstein Barr at: 52 MHz Receptive to Cancer at: 42 MHz Death begins at: 25 MHz Foods: (fresh foods and herbs can be higher if grown organically and eaten freshly picked): Fresh Foods 20-27 Hz Fresh Herbs 20-27 Hz Dried Foods 15-22 Hz Dried Herbs 15-22 Hz Processed/Canned Food 0 HZ...(the majority of food we eat) Many documentaries such as "What the Health" and "Forks Over Knives" are revealing the truth behind the food industry and the benefits of a plant based diet. For the sake of redundancy, we will restate the findings discussed in the film. Here are some of the facts: The standard American diet has led to overwhelming sickness, with two in three Americans overweight or obese, one in three getting diabetes, and one in four deaths due to cancer. Americans eat more meat per person than any other people on earth 70% of deaths and morbidity are largely lifestyle related and preventable One serving of processed meat per day increased risk of developing diabetes by 51% The amount of people who die from cardiovascular disease is the equivalent of four jumbo jets crashing every single hour, every single day, every single year. Alcohol, sugar, smoking, and a meat based diet play a large role in heart disease Within minutes of eating dead meat, bacteria toxins, the body gets a burst of inflammation, stiffening or paralyzing the arteries. Eating 1 egg per day is just as bad as smoking 5 cigarettes per day for life expectancy The egg industry funds studies that confuse consumers The strategy of the meat, dairy and egg industry is to confuse the public, to introduce doubt not unlike the tobacco industry Commercial animals are largely fed genetically modified (GMO) corn and soy Eating organic meat will not help you avoid contaminants There is a strong link between dairy food and autoimmune diseases Children are suffering from diseases linked to dairy consumption Milk is a hormonal fluid, dairy products contain pus Dairy products increase the risk of cancers related to your hormones 10 million pigs in North Carolina produce waste equal to 100 million people Liquid pig manure is pumped into wasted pits that leach into rivers and streams and then sprayed unfiltered onto nearby fields Dead hogs are processed into feed and fed to live hogs There is a disproportionate number of hog facilities located near communities of color and low income communities Any animal protein boosts the level of cancer promoting growth hormone IGF-1 Processed meats are labeled a group 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization, equating processed meats to tobacco smoking, asbestos, plutonium, and arsenic; yet the American Cancer Society encourages eating processed turkey and canned meats Factory fishing ships are exploiting the world's oceans so aggressively that scientists fear the extinction of all commercially fished species within several decades Raising animals for food is the leading cause of rainforest destruction, species extinction, ocean dead zones, and fresh water consumption There's no sustainable way to raise animal foods to meet the world's growing demand (We do not own these statistics. Information/description can be found and fact checked on whatthehealthfilm.com and forksoverknives.com) Plants and especially the pure essential oil derived from them have the highest frequency of any measured natural substance. As some of the highest frequency matter on the planet, plants are a direct expression of and conduit for spiritual energy. As demonstrated by modern science, plants can store the emotions and energy of other beings, much like a crystal stores information. In the same way, muscular tissue from animal sources can store anxiety, stress, and fear from slaughter. As such, we must properly source our foods from peaceful, stress free, high vibrational areas and promote these across the planet for our utmost health and that of the planet. Stay tuned for part two where we dive deeper into more aspects of a conscious lifestyle.

Many philosophers have asked the age-old question: Do we have freewill or are we doomed to a predestined fate? We would like to propose our understandings on the matter. "The essence of spiritual life is simply to use our free will properly" -Radhanath swami One of the most basic things all beings inherently possesses is freewill. Freewill is defined as the unlimited ability to choose and make conscious decisions in the present moment. It is one of the most basic aspects of any soul. The law of freewill is also a powerful, immutable universal law that has many adverse consequences if broken. "Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having." -CS Lewis Theoretically, we all should be able to live exactly as we see fit, with as much or as little as we like, so long as we're not disturbing the freewill of another. In this perfect world, we would be able to manifest things instantaneously with our minds and have absolute control over every circumstance and decision in our life like a director directing a movie. While this is an ideal situation, this is NOT the reality for the vast majority. The majority currently live as a victim to circumstance and have many events laid out prior to occurring in their lives. This is what we call destiny. These premeditated events happen in order to teach them a specific lesson at a specific time. Why is this? Karma. "Evil comes from the abuse of freewill" -CS Lewis All major calamities, disease, lack of money, disappointments and things generally not occurring the way you would like are all symptoms of karma. As the Sanskrit word for action, karma is intrinsically related to past actions, thoughts and behaviors of yourself, your ancestors and your surroundings. In this scenario, the word evil is applied not judgement, but as defined as anything that takes life away rather than gives it. Abusing freewill has this life stealing effect and can be compared to being in debt-energetically rather than monetarily. "Freewill without fate is no more conceivable than spirit without matter, good without evil" -Friedrich Nietzsche To illustrate this point, let's envision your life as a painted picture. At the start, it is preferable to have a blank canvas to work from in order to have space to create new things. However for many, due to past actions and those of our ancestors, the canvas already has paint and partially tells a story, often unrelated to our current new selves. For many, our physical life begins with preloaded programs from the past that make us feel like we're living someone else's life rather than our own. This (karma) is partially where the idea of "fate" comes from. When we have no karma, we live fully in the present and our reality can change instantly according to our freewill. Spirit is freewill and ever flowing and changing while matter is fate and less prone to change. It may be hard to accept that other people's actions affect you as well, but the truth is we are all connected to one inter dimensional consciousness and are therefore only separate in appearance and programming. It is in this understanding that we also find the truth about fate. As we are all one consciousness-think one big movie screen with many actors, or one big pie with many slices, our passions and skills correspond with one another's in order to facilitate reciprocal growth. This means that "it is fate" for someone to become a skilled medical practitioner, for example, in a place where it is needed most. Many encounters in life happen "by fate" because one person had a puzzle piece to life that the other was looking for and/or vice versa. This is not random or even mysterious, it is simply a virtue of everyone and everything being deeply connected through consciousness. This means that we effortlessly and "magically" end up where we need to be when we need to be there. It just so happens that our "freewill" leads us right to something that was destined all along, but only visible from a higher perspective. This begs the question, are fate and freewill really different things after all?

"What is real cannot be threatened, what is unreal does not exist. Herein lies the peace of god."
-A Course in Miracles
-A Course in Miracles
This must be prefaced by saying that there can never be a real crisis in the sense of risk to a being's true nature. Nothing operates outside of consciousness and therefore everything is always in a state of perfection, gracefully guided by god/pure consciousness. Nothing can damage consciousness.
The only risk present in this life is suffering, which is sadly a reality for many beings. Fortunately, suffering is fundamentally unnecessary and is easily overcome. In order to transcend suffering, we must first understand why we suffer.
"Life is change." Growth is optional. Choose wisely."
-Albert Einstein
-Albert Einstein
It is a hard pill for many to swallow, but all of our suffering in this life comes from our own free will actions and thoughts. As described by Buddha in the four noble truths of buddhism, one of the major causes of pain is attachment. Attachment is brought upon by ignorance.
Material life is change, nothing stays the same indefinitely in this world. As such, it is natural for us to go with the flow and accept the change as it comes and constantly be ready to adapt to more. As Darwin stated, the species with the highest survival rate is the species most adaptable to change.
Due to ignorance of what's to come in the future, we can tend to resist change. We grow attached to how something is, and subsequently fear whatever unknown change may come. A lot of the times, the change may have benefited us in a constructive way in hindsight, but it may have been miserable at the moment.
Let's say you get laid off from a job. It may be hard to deal with at first and you may resist, but the very act of losing it may open up something else for your life. You may offered a better job, or even become self employed and end up living a more fulfilling life as a result of what seemed like a negative at the time. Our constant labeling of things as "good or bad" creates undue stress and pain when we do not understand why things occur from a higher perspective.
"Karma moves in two directions. If we act virtuously, the seed we plant will result in happiness. If we act non-virtuously, suffering results."
-Sakyong Mipham
-Sakyong Mipham
Another major cause of suffering in this life is material desire and the "karma" it produces. The word karma means "action," and describes what we do in this life.
As stated scientifically in Isaac Newton's third law of motion, for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction. For example, if you punch a brick wall, the amount of force your fist exerted on the wall will be returned to your fist by the wall. This is an integral function of the universe, to display to us the effect of an action by demonstrating the equal yet opposite response. It is also keeps us responsible for what we create by allowing us to reap what we sow.
A lot of people view this as a form of universal justice and "what goes around comes around," but it is a little more complex than that. Whenever we act, our action is not from us to "others," but in actuality us to us. Everyone we experience is actually an aspect of ourselves that we are being shown almost as a mirror to view our own traits, and inherently cannot be separated. Therefore, every action we take remains with us as it is us.
Rather than seeing it as a boomerang that comes back to the spot it was thrown from, it is more accurately described as follows. Imagine you lived in a snow globe, completely surrounding you but also being part of you. This would represent your energetic field. If you made a mess within the globe, the mess would remain there until it was cleaned or dealt with. In the same manner, anything we do remains with us energetically as emotion, and remains there until cleared.
Let's say someone upset you and you sought revenge. Due to ignorance, you do not see that this person is also you and you seek to harm them (whether physically or emotionally). Any hurt or energy you project at this person would also be projected at you, as you that person. This would then lead to suffering, as you must endure the pain you caused.
We must first conceive an action in our mind before we can take it. Therefore, the quality of our action is dictated by the quality of our thoughts. The quality of our thoughts are dictated on how much knowledge/consciousness we have to view the world from. You can imagine this consciousness as a window, the more you have the better you can see what lies beyond. Therefore, the quality of our life is dependent on how close to pure consciousness, or god, we are.
When we do not truly understand our own nature, we tend to think in terms of solidity. We develop material desires based on survival in this world and progressing materially. The actions taken by the following of these material desires only bring us back more material desires, as we can never truly be satisfied without the spiritual. We continue to seek more material things, getting bored with the newly acquired things when newer, shinier ones become available. This then continues to bring material things as a reaction, leaving you trapped in the physical.

Simply existing within the physical is suffering, as it is not our true state. If we could witness our true state, it would mostly resemble a body of constantly moving rainbow colored light from a human perspective (as shown above). In this form, we are pure consciousness and in a perpetual state of simply being. When we live in a mortal state, we are subject to pain, illness, and death, as nothing in the material can live indefinitely. As pure consciousness, we cannot suffer or die, we can only continue to be and create. If we are ignorant of our true form as a being of pure consciousness, we are subject to living a material life. We have defined ourselves by our ego (name, physical appearance, hobbies, etc.), and are therefore no longer pure potential.
To sum up, suffering is primarily due to ignorance. It should be noted that ignorance is the opposite of consciousness (god), therefore represents what some religions personify as the "devil."
To now understand why ignorance occurs, we must first understand the cycles of creation.
Everything begins in a state of perfection and wholeness after creation. Through the progression of what we call time, it begins to deteriorate and eventually returns to a state of nothingness. This is seen in the life cycles of animals, plants, and even the whole universe.
This is represented in the hindu concept of "yugas," referring to an epoch or era within a four age cycle. The progression is as follows: Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga. There is a similar concept in greek mythology which labels the ages as Golden, Silver, Bronze and Iron.
- Satya Yuga, the first era, is known as the golden era and represents the height of truth and perfection. The most amount of spiritual energy is present across the universe, and all mankind can experience the highest levels of spiritual perfection.
- Treta Yuga, the second era, is marked by a slight decrease in spiritual energy and in virtue. Thirst for power increases and emperors rise to dominance. Wars become more frequent.
- Dvapara Yuga, the third era, sees an even bigger decrease in spiritual energy. People become discontent and fight with each other. Lifespans decrease and people become less interested in understanding higher topics.
- Kali Yuga, the final age is known as the age of darkness and ignorance. Unity within society begins to diminish and becomes almost non existent. Power and wealth is horded by few, and lack and strife characterize most beings' existences. This period is marked by the scarcest amount of spiritual energy available throughout the universe.
The reason for this gradual decline is a very natural process; just as an apple begins ripe after creation and decays over time, the entire creation is subject to decay over time.
Rather than going Satya--> Treta--> Dvapara--> Kali--> and then restarting with Satya, we observe upward and downward cycles. Starting at Satya, a downward spiral from consciousness leads us to Kali, and then an upward spiral back to consciousness brings us back to Satya.
Many people claim we are currently in the Kali yuga, according to calculations from ancient texts. It is stated that conditions on earth are to get worst, and the news seem to reflect that.
It was calculated that a yuga lasts around 432,000 years, placing us currently in the final age. In opposition, a spiritual researcher named Sri Yukteswar recalculated from the scriptures and stated a yuga to actually only be 24,000 years long, putting us not in the Kali Yuga but in the Dvapara.
According to the recalculations, the Kali Yuga ended in 1700 AD. This would make more sense, as the medieval times were quite more reflective of an age of ignorance than is today. We have come a long way scientifically and have certainly raised our consciousness since then.
In this era of Dvapara, we all must do our part to continue the increase of consciousness in man and the relief of suffering of all. This can be accomplished through the sending and receiving of spiritual energy.
“No man should think himself a zero, and think he can do nothing about the state of the world" -Bernard M. Baruch
We can all help heal the world, even without leaving our own house! Anyone can send and receive spiritual energy, and in doing so drastically change the world for the better. It is as natural to us as walking or breathing.
In this day and age when lower emotions continue to plague many, it is infinitely more valuable to provide loving service to others than even meditating for thousands of years. Not doing any active harm is of course better than the reverse – but it is still not enough. Nor is self-improvement on its own enough – however spiritual it may be. To heal the world, we have to go out of our way to help others to bring about a positive change in their lives as well. There are many ways to do this – and many wonderful people – of all the great religions, and even of no religion – who perform various kinds of invaluable service in this respect. You can too!
Spiritual energy can heal others in mind and body – and most importantly raise consciousness thereby helping people to rise above the weaknesses of greed, materialism, violent emotion, hate, jealousy, desire for vengeance and so on. In sending love and light to others, you are raising them up along with yourself, as we are one integrated whole.
We are also working to change the collective karma of the human race. The more good we do – the more service we perform – the better the karma. The better each individual’s karma, the better the karma of the world. Improving the world karma has a direct effect on the conditions on Earth and all of its inhabitants.
No matter what the mainstream media portrays, conditions are getting better everyday. We are becoming more tolerant, more understanding, and more unified in time. More spiritual energy is becoming available as the universe becomes more conscious of itself. Newer generations are improving, and many children come into this world nowadays with extraordinary talents. We really are moving towards a golden era and towards perfection, and the key is increasing consciousness through the giving and receiving of spiritual energy.
To help out, head over to the earth energy meditation and send healing love and light to the earth's energy centers. This would effect the entire consciousness of the planet, thereby effecting the beings who inhabit it. You can also send love to others from the community in the Transcended Garden.

“If you want to know the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”
– Nikola Tesla.
– Nikola Tesla.
To reiterate from the last post What is spiritual energy?, we are not truly physical or material but a conglomeration of perpetually moving energies crystallized into "form" (or what appears to be form). This ensemble of energies-which may have a multitude of different pitches or tones, has a collective frequency. It is very important to think of life in terms of frequency/vibration, as everything that exists in our world must have a frequency.
Frequency is defined as the rate per second of a vibration constituting a wave, which simply put, refers to the amount of times a wave of energy bounces around a midline.
The more times the waves go left and right about the midline, the higher the frequency. As you can see from the picture, the higher frequency waves move more as the lower frequencies remain more stagnant.
As we see from the electromagnetic spectrum (shown below), what we can perceive through our senses is a very small portion of reality. What the human eye can see is represented by the visible light spectrum below. These comprise the colors Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Indigo-Violet.
From an analytical left brain perspective, frequency manifests itself to us visually as color. A change in color is simply a change in vibratory rate of the wave. Red has the lowest frequency, while violet has the highest frequency of the colors.
As the frequency continues to increase past the violet color, it becomes ultraviolet and invisible to us. Similarly, as a body increases it's consciousness and frequency, it begins to vibrate higher than what we can see with our human eyes, thus making the being "transcended." In terms of frequency, they are no longer visible to us from our current material existence. In terms of consciousness, they have grown conscious, or aware of more levels of existence. They have transcended the material reality and are able to shift in and out of this world, just as a radio set changes frequency in order to perceive a different effect.
If you listen to 106.1 on the radio for example, you cannot also hear the music on 97.9. If you then change the dial to listen to 97.9, you would no longer be able to perceive the music on 106.1. In the same manner, life as we know it is simply of band of frequencies we are experiencing, and we can change the dial if we want so to speak.
From an intuitive, right brain perspective, frequency manifests itself to us as emotions. The predominant emotion we feel determines our vibratory rate, with emotions such as love and joy having higher frequencies than emotions such as hate and fear.
The scale below demonstrates the differing frequencies of each emotion, on a system of units from 1-1,000. 1 would represent someone living at the lowest level but still being a part of the material world, while 1,000 would represent someone living at the highest level of existence within the material world.

Emotions that are higher in frequency such as love and peace feel lighter and softer to us, making them generally more attractive. Emotions that are low in frequency like shame and guilt weigh us down and make us feel stagnant. Our general health and mood is determined by how well our energy is flowing and how high our frequency is.
Although we may be experiencing a predominant emotion at any given moment, we could alternately experience another in the next. The reason for this can be more than hormonal.
Our emotions are truly energy forms at certain frequencies (depending on the emotion). When we repress emotions we do not want to experience, they can become stored within our body and can be released spontaneously through experiences in our life. For example, someone can minorly inconvenience us and completely throw off our mood regardless of how it was before. If you find yourself reacting to something more than what is necessary for the situation, you are most likely experiencing old emotions that are resurfacing to be let go of.
These old emotions can operate like programs running in the background of a computer without any conscious awareness. Although we have not fully finished experiencing the emotion associated with an event, we move on into a new "browser window" so to speak. The old browser windows that are still up take up precious battery and energy that could be used for other things, all while remaining outside of our view. We must exit out of all of these programs in order to increase our frequency as much as possible.
These energy patterns that stay with us are representative of what is known as "karma," and can disrupt our life if left untreated. They are simply energy patterns that continue to repeat.
Fortunately they are very easy to remove, along with the subsequent effect they cause in our lives. For more information on how to remove these patterns from your life, stay tuned for our next article entitled "How to eliminate karma."
From an energy/frequency standpoint, we must remove the old, stagnant energy forms within our ensemble of energies in order to raise our frequency. This will free up space for our systems to incorporate more energy and to feel lighter, happier and healthier. In this manner, we can remove all of our sufferings and live a life of maximum bliss.
What is spiritual energy?
From the beginning of human history, people with a deep yearning for something larger than material life have reported a certain power, or flow, deeply rooted in nature. Many practical minded sages, gurus, yogis, and truth seekers have shared verifiable experiences of a kind of energy that flows throughout the body in specific patterns. Many names have been given to characterize it, such as subtle/spiritual energy, chi, life force, prana, dark matter, holy spirit, orgone, biomagnetism, etheric force, etc. While this energy has been labeled countless times, it continues to work independent of any particular belief or current scientific concepts.
The philosophical tradition known as "Taoism," is centered around this concept, and in living in harmony with it. It is known as the "Tao," when loosely translated means "the way" or "the power." The keystone work of the Taoist tradition is known as the Tao Te Ching, which begins with the admonition: "The Tao which can be spoken of is not the Tao." What we call spiritual energy or "Tao" is beyond language expression and cannot be explained without experiencing it.
We cannot begin to describe something without using the senses. For this reason, describing this concept is impossible in human language form as it is beyond our sensory perception.
Despite the limitations in expression, modern science (in particular quantum physics) has come very close to describing the true nature of reality in an understandable format.
“The day science begins to study nonphysical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.”
-Nikola Tesla

Quantum physics, or quantum mechanics is simply the branch of science dealing with the smallest building blocks of our world.
Through many years of observation and research, researchers have been able to determine that everything we interact with is made up of small parts-known as atoms. Atoms themselves are then made up of smaller particles known as subatomic particles. Although these particles appear physical from a material perspective, if you focused closer on the structure of the atom you would see nothing, essentially a void. 99.99999% of an atom is empty space, with the contents (protons, neutrons and electrons) representing a minuscule portion of the whole.
Atoms are constantly moving, and the electrons within can be seen as in constant motion about the nucleus just as the planets are in a constant revolution of the sun (more on that later). The constant movement of these particles/energy forms creates an illusion of solidity from our perspective (like how a video can be made from many quickly moving images), however there is no real physical structure.
Atoms group together and form bonds to create molecules which then group even further to create a large system of "particles."
Material nature requires the slowing down or "crystallization" of these perpetually moving energies after they group together, such that they appear to belong to one "body" separate from other "bodies." Each body has its own electrostatic field keeping the particles/energy forms together, giving each one a unique tone or vibration.
Regardless of what appears to the senses, what we perceive as our physical material world is really not physical or material at all. This has been proven time and time again by multiple Nobel Prize winning physicists (among other scientists), one of them being Niels Bohr, a Danish Physicist who made significant contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory.
" If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you havent understood it.
Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real”

Perhaps the flagship experiment of quantum physics is known as the double slit experiment and revealed to researchers that the world we live in is a lot more complex than we ever could have imagined. In the basic version of this experiment, researchers set up a plate with two parallel slits as shown in the picture below.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Double-slit.PNG
Light beamed from a laser and electrons (and other "particles") were shot at the slits in order to observe the pattern displayed after passing through the slits.
Light is considered an immaterial wave which is subject to probability, while particles are considered small parts of matter (like a marble) that are defined and have a location in space. If material particles like marbles were shot at two slits, they would be expected to produce a pattern behind the slits that mirrors the dimensions of the slit, like tracing with a stencil. Waves would be expected to produce what is known as an interference pattern as the waves add to and cancel each other out at certain points, shown below.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-slit_experiment#/media/File:Doubleslit3Dspectrum.gif
What researchers actually found was that the "particles" in some instances, when fired one by one at alternating slits, displayed the interference pattern typical of a wave, and the "waves" in some instances displayed the typical particle pattern. These results first demonstrated the principle of wave–particle duality, revealing to researchers that waves and particles are interchangeable. Albert Einstein would later go on to describe light as consisting of many small packets of energy, known as photons, which display both wave and particle function.
The wave function is steeped in probability, as a particle can manifest itself in many "places" in space within the wave. It is in a state of potential and is considered immaterial. The particle function is more definite, and the particle contains information like its "location in space." It is made manifest and is considered material.
In order to understand why a wave function is displayed in some instances and a particle function in others, researchers set up a sensor to track each photon.
They found that each observed photon would go through one slit, and not form an interference pattern, suggesting particle function. When left unobserved, they found the unobserved photon would produce an interference pattern, suggesting wave function. This wave would have the potential to go through both slits as a wave, one slit as a particle, or the other slit as a particle or all simultaneously. The implications of these findings are tremendous.
"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
These results teach us that the very act of observing changes the nature of reality and creates the material world we then experience through the senses. We can infer that nothing can truly exist in the present moment outside of our perception without being subject to probability. Furthermore, when we begin to focus on something, we create a world that otherwise would not exist in our current existence.
It becomes quite clear there is no objective reality "out there." For anything to exist, it must be given attention. Everything we see "outside" is really within and is only created through observation.
From modern scientific understanding, we can infer that the "tao" or spiritual energy spoken of in many spiritual, religious and philosophical traditions must be or emanate from attention and observation.
This also demonstrates why "the tao that can be spoken of is not the Tao." The act of observing and analyzing alters the only true nature of reality, which is pure potential and change.
This also explains why science based on observation and discovery can never truly understand all of the secrets of the universe, as the very act of looking for them alters the results. Furthermore, to search outside of one one self predicates it is not already within, and creates a present reality where you constantly search them.
We can most importantly infer that when we use the word God, we refer to the creator and sustainer of all-consciousness. The deeper aspect of us that is conscious and aware is the God in our world, for without it life would be impossible and pointless. Every time we experience something in life, we must first be conscious. It is the beginning and the means to the end.
If you asked an evolutionary scientist why a species evolves, they will most likely explain it as follows. It isn't that a species adapts, it's that the environment selects. Organisms are constantly producing offspring with varying traits, whether through mutation, recombination, or some other mechanism. The environment kills some of these offspring and handicaps others. The force that causes adaptation is that of the environment on the organism, not some creative force within the organism.
However, if we look at it as a bigger picture, we see that in fact the organism is so deeply rooted in its environment as to form the very same system.
The definition of an ecosystem is "a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment (things like air, water and mineral soil), interacting as a system." In an ecosystem, each organism has its own niche or role to play from its perspective, while serving a larger whole from a higher perspective. That "whole" that is naturally served and is the reason for everything is God.

"The whole universe appears as a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns… Thus we are not separated parts of a whole. We are a Whole."
-Barbara Ann Brennan
As previously stated, many atoms come together to form "bodies" with unique vibratory properties. These bodies appear separate from the perspective of the body, but as an integrated whole (made up of the same core essence) from a higher perspective. In this material world, we must understand duality in order to understand unity.
Seen from a dualistic perspective, material creation requires the coming together of two general "kinds" of energy-electrical (also referred to as male) and magnetic (also referred to as female). These two forms appear to differ, but are just part of the same system. Just as electromagnetic waves are composed of both an electric and magnetic field 90 degrees from each other (shown in the picture above), our human body is created through the union of male and female energy and mutual sharing of genetic data. The electric or male energy accomplishes what we would describe as pushing and is active, while the magnetic or female energy accomplishes what we would describe as pulling and is passive. The masculine and feminine energies are also seen in the elements of fire and air, and water and earth respectively.

It is worth noting that the term "male/female" do not refer to men and women but to larger concepts. While men typically embody more male energy and women more female, we should strive to be an equal mix of the two. These energies are also referred to as yin (female) and yang (male) and the ideal balance is seen in the well known yin/yang symbol. Working as a holistic system rooted in balance, these two energies are extremely powerful and can produce miracles such as creation.

Another way to view this concept known as the "Tao" is from a spiritual perspective. The main purpose of a spiritual practice is to understand the "Tao," and live in harmony with it so as to become it. As we are already conscious inherently, we do not truly "become it," but return to it.
Many factors can determine how conscious we are, and through deep meditation many sages and gurus have made incredible insights into these topics. Thanks to sacred religious texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, we can gather that creation is made up of even more subtle energy forms, known as the "Trigunas" or the three qualities, that make up the very fabric of reality. They are known as sattva, raja and tama.
http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/spiritual-research/the-universe/sattva-raja-tama/
Relatively unknown to modern sciences, they permeate through all living and non-living, tangible and intangible things. They represent the very fabric that creates everything material and immaterial. They are considered the most subtle energy forms in existence.
The vibrations emitted by anything are dependent on its predominant subtle basic component. The ratio of subtle basic components also influences the behavior of all things.
- Sattva-represents purity and knowledge and is characterized by the yellow band in the picture. It is the most subtle and harmonious of the three, and is hence close to pure consciousness and divinity. Its predominance in a person is characterised by happiness, contentment, virtues like patience, perseverance, ability to forgive, spiritual yearning etc.
- Raja-represents action and passion and provides fuel to the other two. It is characterized as the red band and can energize either sattvic or tamasic qualities.
- Tamas- represents ignorance and inertia and is characterized by the black line. Its disharmonious and the basest of the three. Its predominance in a person is reflected by laziness, greed, attachment to worldly matters etc.
It is important to note that the proportion of these components in human beings can only be changed by spiritual practice.
It is also interesting to note how similar these ancient concepts are to the current scientific model of super string theory. According to string theory, minuscule strands of energy vibrating in a higher dimensional space-time create every particle and force in the universe.
As we can see, science and spirituality are just two sides of the same coin. They are simply perspectives taken with the same goal in mind-understanding our life and why we exist.
As we learn from science, we cannot wish to merely observe reality in order to understand it. We cannot experience something in the present while also analyzing it from a higher perspective. In order to flow with the "Tao," we must simply be, we need not try or put in undue effort as it is our natural state.
For the sake of clarity, when we speak of spiritual energy on transcendentvibes.com, we refer to both a scientific and spiritual concept. We refer to immaterial energy that is projected by one body through time-space to another body with the intention of relieving suffering and bringing joy. When we realize that we are all part of the same system, we understand that the energy is not actually being projected through space, but developing within the receiver, as the sender/receiver are one.
We can approach spiritual energy from a scientific view by the effects it has on us and our bodily health. We can also understand spiritual energy simply by experiencing it. If you would like to experience it for yourself, head over to our virtual temple.
